For the last six months, we've been thinking about why freelance invoicing still feels stuck. And today, we're launching Brisk.
Brisk is a workspace for freelancers, starting with a simple idea: an invoice shouldn't be a dead document you attach to an email. It should be a living page that keeps working after you hit send.
How invoicing usually works
You finish a project. You open a template, fill in the details, export a PDF, attach it to an email, and write something like "Please find attached my invoice for..." Then you wait.
A few days pass. Maybe a week. You're not sure if they opened it. You're not sure if the PDF ended up in spam. You don't know if they're confused about the payment details or if they just forgot.
So you write a follow-up. Polite, professional, slightly awkward. Sometimes you write two. Sometimes three. Sometimes you realize you've been so busy with new work that you forgot to follow up at all, and now the invoice is 45 days old.
The invoice did its job the moment you sent it. Everything after that is on you.
What if the invoice kept working?
That's the idea behind Brisk.
In Brisk, an invoice is a link, not a file. Your client opens it and sees everything in one place: what they owe, when it's due, how to pay. No downloading a PDF. No digging through email for bank details. No replying to ask "when was this due again?"
The page is alive. It shows the current status. It has the payment instructions ready to copy. When the client pays, they confirm it right there. You see the update immediately.
And if they forget to pay on time, Brisk follows up for them. Automatically. You set the tone and the schedule once, the same way you'd tell an assistant "remind them next Tuesday, and again the following week if they haven't paid." After that, you don't think about it.
The invoice keeps working so you don't have to.
Your brand, not ours
Freelancers care about how their work looks. Every deliverable is considered, every detail matters. But then the invoice for that work shows up looking like a generic form with someone else's logo on it.
In Brisk, your invoice looks like it came from your business. Your logo, your colors, your details. When a client opens it, they see your brand, not a template.
This might sound like a small thing. But the invoice is often the last touchpoint of a project. It's the final impression. It should feel as considered as the work it's billing for.
A workspace that grows with you
Invoicing is the starting point. It's where the friction is most obvious and where we can help the fastest.
But the bigger idea is a workspace where everything about a client relationship lives together. Your invoices, your contracts, your proposals. All connected, all in one place, all with your branding.
Right now, a freelancer's client information is scattered across their digital life. The invoice is in one app. The contract is in a folder. Project details are in an email thread. Nothing talks to anything else.
We're building toward a place where you open a client in Brisk and see everything: what you proposed, what you agreed to, what you billed, and what you got paid. A full history of every professional relationship, organized without effort.
Contracts and proposals are coming soon. This is where it starts.
Built with care
We spent a long time on things that might seem small. How the invoice looks on mobile. How many taps it takes for a client to see their payment details. How the reminder email sounds when it arrives on a Tuesday morning.
These details matter because they're the moments where someone forms an opinion about how professional you are. We think freelancers deserve tools that are built with the same care they bring to their own work.
We're very early
There's a lot we want to build and a lot we're still learning. If you try it and something doesn't feel right, we want to hear about it.
